While I was a student at The Master's College (TMC) in Santa Clarita, CA, I had the blessing of working for Mrs. Elizabeth George as a personal assistant. I was priviledged to work along side Mrs. George and gleen from her wisdom. She was an example to me of a true Prov. 31 woman. I had read book after book about being a Godly woman and I had been exposed to great teaching in the Home Economics Department at TMC. However, this experince provided me with a real-life example of what I should strive for in my life as woman desiring to be "after God's own heart".As I was searching the internet recently, I decided to visit her website and see if she had published any new books. I came across her daily devotional. Although short, it was challenging.
Becoming a Woman After God's Own Heart
"I have found David...a man after My own heart, who will do all my will."Acts 13:22
"I have found David...a man after My own heart, who will do all my will."Acts 13:22
With so much going on in our busy lives it's easy to get our priorities out of whack. Set aside some time this week to read and meditate on Psalm 63, where David cries out to God in the wilderness: "O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for you: my flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water." Today is the perfect time to get back on track with God. Use the firstfruits of your time to be filled spiritually so you can serve God and the people in your path. Let others be refreshed by you. Put simply, seek first things first - every day!
My Soul Thirsts for You
A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
63:1 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you,as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. 3 Because your steadfast love is better than life,my lips will praise you. 4 So I will bless you as long as I live;in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, 6 when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; 7 for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy. 8 My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
9 But those who seek to destroy my lifeshall go down into the depths of the earth; 10 they shall be given over to the power of the sword; they shall be a portion for jackals. 11 But the king shall rejoice in God; all who swear by him shall exult, for the mouths of liars will be stopped.
